Salvaged Timber Industrial Reclaimed Dining Table – Home Barn Vintage Interiors

Home Barn’s Salvaged Timber Reclaimed Dining Table takes center stage in the heart of the home. The salvaged solid timbers look natural, homely, and rustic.

We love the concept of informal dining. Our beautiful, solid, reclaimed wood tables are the perfect place to eat, entertain, work and play. They are the perfect family table.

Each salvaged timber industrial reclaimed dining table is hand-made exclusively for us, to our own designs, by our team of expert local craftsmen and cabinet-makers. Relaxed in style, our tables have a unique rustic aged aesthetic with a strong design and modern styling details.

Our smooth family-friendly table tops are made from 11cm width planks and each plank has its own unique markings and patine from the timber’s previous life.

Our casually elegant tables are made in a number of stunning designs to suit every home. They will look equally as good in an industrial warehouse, period home or modern rustic setting. There are four styles to choose from and each table is individually made to the length you require.

The construction of our Salvaged Timber Industrial Reclaimed Dining Table is traditional and we use only sustainable materials. The timbers are sourced locally from architectural salvage specialists. We use solid timbers, breadboard ends, and traditional joints.

Carefully hand-selected, salvaged timbers are perfectly imperfect in appearance with authentic dents and patina. The grain, colour, and texture of each table are different, making each hand-made one totally unique.

Each of our modern rustic designs is based on traditional classics meaning that they are timeless and will not go out of fashion. The refectory table was historically a long narrow table for communal dining. Our tables are available in lengths from 185cm to 240cm long.

Dining Benches For The Salvaged Timber Industrial Reclaimed Dining Table

Benches are available to match each table design. Benches complete the casual refectory look. As so many people can squeeze onto a bench they accommodate extra guests perfectly.  We recommend that a bench be ordered at the same length as the table. Please note that Dining benches and extension leaves can only be ordered with a dining table and are not available separately or retrospectively.

Our dining bench tops are a comfortable 40cm deep at the top. Each bench matched to be the right height for the table at 46cm high. We recommend ordering a bench the same length as your dining table.

Please note that dining benches can only be ordered with a dining table and are not available separately or retrospectively.

Extension Leaves

Individually made extension leaves may be ordered at the same time as you order your table. Each leaf will give you 40cm extra length at the head of the table. Perfect for adding a couple of extra guests at a dinner party or at Christmas. Order a pair or just the one. A bracket beneath the table allows the leaf to be fitted when required. The leaf will be stored in a cupboard when not in use.

Please note that extension leaves can only be ordered with a dining table and are not available separately or retrospectively.

Product Information (please read the following information carefully before ordering)

  • Our salvaged timber declaimed dining table is full of character and is not ‘perfect’. The timber is reclaimed and there will be marks, cracks & splits, and other blemishes and imperfections. The timber is not graded ‘A’ quality… it is carefully selected to be characterful as possible. Salvaged wood may have come from old buildings and therefore have nail holes, hammer marks, historic paint traces, and so on.
  • The salvaged timbers used are from rough-hewn reclaimed timber, which will be variable in grain, texture, and colour.  Knots, cracks, dark marks, rusty spots, unevenness within the planks, and variations in colour are all part of the character of the table.
  • Each plank in the tabletop will be unlikely to be exactly the same in grain, colour, or texture. Reclaimed timber may have nicks, saw marks, sanding marks, old nail holes, and other various signs of its previous use.  Filler in a sympathetic colour may be used in areas also we may use dowels or blocks to fill larger holes or knots.
  • The exact dimensions vary.  Allow up to four cm tolerance within the measurements quoted.
  • As the timber is reclaimed there can be slight movement, you may find that you need to pop a felt pad under one leg for example to address a wobble.
  • The tabletop is unlikely to be entirely flat and level…. you may find that in areas a dinner plate will (perhaps) not sit entirely flat.  Planks within the tabletop may be slightly cupped and bowed when you first take delivery AND this may occur over time also.
  • Areas of the table may have been heavily sanded creating rounded shallows and dips, these can also be found on the edges of the furniture.
  • Breadboard ends are designed to expand and contract and may become a little larger than the table width in time – this is a natural and normal feature.  If your breadboard ends should expand you can saw or sand off the excess timber after the table has settled for several months within the home.  You may also disguise shrinkage in this area by adding a little wax.
  • Do not sit your table on a floor with underfloor heating when it is first delivered, the extremes of heat may cause sudden drying of the timbers in your table and this could result in cracking.  Extremes of temperature must be avoided for the first 8-12 weeks until your table has settled in.  If you use underfloor heating please be cautious and use it on a low setting for this first period.
  • Wax can be added at home to disguise any cosmetic cracks that develop.
  • We recommend that should you choose not to seal your table that you use protection on the surface of your tables such as waterproof covers, coasters and placemats.
  • If you choose to seal your table with wax or varnish then this will be water-resistant and stain-resistant but NOT waterproof and stain proof, you must take use protective covers on your table to prevent damage.
  • If you choose to wax your table the wax will need to be re-applied periodically to keep up the protection and to reseal it.  We recommend this be done every 1 to 6 months.  If your table is waxed it can be wiped with a wrung-out damp cloth and then immediately dried with a soft cloth.
  • A 25 cm overhang at the head of your table is a general industry standard and is comfortable for a person of average height. Please note that our 155cm tables come with a 15cm overhang (which gives you slightly less legroom at the head of the table).
  • If we deliver your table there will only be one man on the delivery, you will need to supply someone strong at your delivery address to take the other end of the furniture.
  • If you are seeking a perfect table then it is highly probable that our tables may not be for you.  Our tables are carefully designed to be very rustic and will not be perfect. We wish to emphasize that this is inherent to the design and for us allows the salvaged timbers to look ‘reclaimed’ and that this is what is beautiful about them.
