Our antique Antique Mediterranean Urn | Lewes would originally have been used for storing olive oil. Yet now the perfect antique home or garden accessory. They commonly adorn the steps and patios of coastal homes.
Mediterranean urns look beautiful and very sculptural inside the home. Equally you can use them outdoors and plant them with olive trees or trailing plants.
In the garden, they must be protected from static freezing water/soil if planted. In the wintertime, if you leave them outdoors, simply turn upside down so that they cannot fill with water which will freeze (if you make a drainage hole to the bottom there is no need to do this).
If you establish a plant inside these pots simply use a plastic pot within which will allow for expansion and contraction of frozen soil and water. If you do fill the pot with soil we would recommend that you do not allow the pot and contents to freeze over winter.
Each pot is around 70-100 years old so please expect vintage imperfect condition. None of our pots has any large structural cracks but small chips, small holes and dents and repairs are part of their inherently unique look. Some pots have traces of white residue where they have been previously painted. Pots are often repaired and have some filler. There are often traces of olive oil inside the pots. The surface is often textured, pitted and flaky with loose paintwork/whitewash.

If you see an urn stand in the photographs – they are not included with the pot, merely a way of us creating interest and height for photography purposes. Please add urn stand to your order if you require one. An urn stand is not essential, if you add some weight to the bottom of the pot such as gravel then the pot will be largely stable as it will be weighted at the bottom.

Parcel Delivery
We use Parcelforce to deliver our smaller items.
Courier Delivery – Furniture | bulky items | fragile items | heavy items
Delivery will take place via door-to-door courier an item is too large and heavy, long or fragile to be delivered in a parcel by any of the UK parcel providers.
This service is undertaken by a one-man delivery service.
Please be prepared to help to move the item from the van or lorry to just inside your door. When delivery takes place, it will be to just inside the threshold of your home only.
The courier will not be able to carry the furniture up or down steps to access your property.
You will need to supply a strong helper to assist on the day of delivery.
After the courier has left, you will need to remove the item from its packaging when present and carry it from your doorway into your home or garden.
Some items such as our dining tables flat packed for self-assembly. Many items of furniture require an element of self-assembly.
Delivery is added at the checkout - you will be able to view this charge before you pay.

offshore Islands
Special quotation for deliveries is required for the following areas: Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands, and Islands as well as all other offshore UK islands.

Collection of your order from Home Barn.
All our stock is listed online and available for nationwide delivery.
We welcome collection of your orders from our shop in Marlow Buckinghamshire, however, please note that we do not allow customer or their couriers to collect bulky items, heavy items or furniture items from Home Barn.
Not all of our beautiful stock is available in store, so please contact us before travelling to collect an item.
Collection of orders must be undertaken during standard opening hours.
Items must be collected within 10 days of ordering.
