Vintage American Tin Tile
A fabulous vintage American tin tile artwork. This is a unique artwork, crafted from an eighty year old American pressed tin ceiling tile. A truly one of kind item.
These tiles were originally used to line ceilings and walls in the United States from the 1920s to the 1940s. They were designed to emulate elaborate plaster-work and are sometimes referred to as 'poor man's plaster'.
Each square tile has been cut by hand, and then carefully mounted onto a wooden frame to make an amazing piece of art from these historic tiles. Each one is a piece of historic and decorative interest, entirely unique, and you will never find two artworks which are the same.
Pleasingly rusty and imperfect - the tile has not been restored so please expect some flaking paintwork and some uneven less than perfect edges.
The backing is made from timber around which the tile edges have been wrapped. There are no fixings to the rear of the artwork therefore you can choose how to hang, however please allow for adding your own if you wish to hang this item on a wall. Or alternatively simply prop it up on a shelf or lean against a wall.
Please select from the option below:
