Antique horseshoe chair | Chun
A primitive bent wood chair, made in rural Shanxi China. Dating from the 19th century this chair is over 125 years old.
This beautiful chair is smoothed with the passage of time. Having a lovely patina, it has been stripped of finish quite naturally over time and has a lovely sun bleached appearance.
The top horseshoe-shaped bentwood rail is made from one single piece of steam-bent willow or possibly poplar. The seat is made from elm. The top rail is supported by two simple vertical supports of elm.
This beautiful, entirely hand-crafted chair is incredibly rare and collectable and we love this one particularly for its pared-back aesthetic.
These chairs are usually ornately decorated and have black paint on their surfaces. This one is beautifully simple and pared back, perfect as a feature for a minimalist rustic home.
These chairs were made and also used by professors at schools and colleges

Courier Delivery
Delivery will take place via door-to-door courier because this item is too large and heavy, long or fragile to be delivered in a parcel by any of the UK parcel providers.
This service is undertaken by a one man delivery service.
Please therefore be prepared to help to move this heavy item from the van or lorry to just inside your door. When delivery takes place it will be to just inside the threshold of your home only.
The courier will not be able to carry the furniture up or down steps to access your property.
You will also need to supply a strong helper to assist on the day of delivery as removing this from the lorry is a job for two extremely strong people.
After the courier has left you will need to remove the item from its packaging when present and carry it from your doorway into your home or garden.
Delivery is added at the checkout - you will be able to view this charge before you pay.

Special quotation for deliveries is required for the following areas: Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands, and Islands as well as all other offshore UK islands.

Collection of your order from Home Barn.
All our stock is listed online and available for nationwide delivery.
We welcome collection of your orders from our shop in Marlow Buckinghamshire, however, please note that we do not allow customer or their couriers to collect bulky items, heavy items or furniture items from Home Barn.
Not all of our beautiful stock is available in store, so please contact us before travelling to collect an item.
Collection of orders must be undertaken during standard opening hours.
Items must be collected within 10 days of ordering.
