Our Antique French Provincial Stoneware Storage Bottles are beautifully understated decorative antiques, each handcrafted in rural France during the late nineteenth to early twentieth century, circa 1880–1920.
Originally created as everyday storage vessels, they would have been used to transport and store wine, cider, vinegar, olive oil and other household provisions. Made from high-fired stoneware, these bottles were designed to withstand decades of daily use, and today they retain the rich patina, softly weathered glazes and honest character that only genuine antiques can offer.
Hand-thrown by skilled potters, every bottle displays subtle variations in shape, colour and glaze, reflecting the traditional firing methods of the French countryside. Their quiet, sculptural forms have made them favourites with interior designers, where they sit effortlessly within contemporary country homes, Belgian-inspired interiors and relaxed modern rustic spaces.
Whether styled individually or grouped together on open shelving, a console table, kitchen dresser or within a glazed cabinet, these authentic French bottles bring warmth, texture and over a century of history into the home.
