Caring for Your Solid Wood Table

For daily maintenance, dust your furniture with a dry cloth only. When needed, clean surfaces gently using a soft cloth moistened with mild soapy water. Follow with a damp cloth rinse and then dry thoroughly.

Avoid placing hot items directly on  the table to prevent discoloration. Keep furniture away from heat sources and avoid prolonged contact with alcohol or chemicals. Use coasters under glasses to prevent water rings.

To nourish and protect the wood, apply teak oil once or twice annually by rubbing it into the surface. If necessary, lightly sand the table to address any minor damage.

As with all natural wooden furniture and surfaces, a degree of care is required in everyday use. Natural timber can be sensitive to water, oils, fats, oily foods and other liquids, which can leave marks on the surface.

We recommend always using coasters and placemats and avoiding placing wet items, hot cookware or oily foods directly onto the timber. Care should also be taken to avoid spilling water, oils, fats or other liquids onto the surface. Should an accidental spill occur, it should be wiped away promptly to minimise marking. Never use chemical or abrasive cleaners; for everyday cleaning, use a soft, lightly damp cloth.

We appreciate that the first few marks can feel particularly noticeable. However, one of the characteristics of choosing solid wood furniture is that the surface will not remain completely untouched or uniform throughout its life. It is a natural material, and its appearance will evolve through everyday use.
